The TRUST Sweet Iron Dee Waterford 16 mm is a bit specifically designed for horses that tend to lean heavily on the bit or become strong in the rider's hand. The Waterford mouthpiece, made up of a series of rounded, articulated links, is highly flexible in every direction. This design prevents the horse from taking a fixed hold of the bit while ensuring even pressure distribution throughout the mouth.
The D-rings (Dee rings) keep the bit stable in the horse's mouth and provide gentle lateral guidance, making steering easier and improving the precision of the rider's aids. They also prevent the bit from sliding through the mouth, offering a secure and reassuring fit.
The bit is made from Sweet Iron, a material that naturally develops a layer of oxidation when exposed to moisture. This oxidation creates a slightly sweet taste that stimulates salivation, encouraging relaxation and better acceptance of the bit. Over time, the characteristic blue colour of Sweet Iron naturally changes to a brownish-grey without affecting the bit's performance.
The Waterford mouthpiece is intended for experienced riders with quiet, independent hands. When used with soft hands, it provides effective control without being unnecessarily harsh. However, rough or unsteady hands can significantly increase its severity.
