Swale with Copper Cherry Rollers – Optimal Control and Acceptance

The Swale with copper cherry rollers is a simpler alternative to a double bridle, offering increased control through its leverage action on the shanks and the movable rings positioned above the mouthpiece.

This bit can be used with two reins:

one rein attached to the loose rings for a softer action,

a second rein on the lower ring to apply enhanced leverage.

It can also be used with a single rein by means of a converter. As with a Pelham, the leverage increases with the length of the shanks. Swale bits, however, provide even greater leverage, making them ideal for strong horses that tend to pull or lean on the bit.

The copper cherry roller mouthpiece encourages the horse to play with the bit, promoting jaw relaxation and increased saliva production. This helps improve acceptance of the bit and reduces the likelihood of the horse taking hold of it.
