Give your horse precise, stable and relaxed contact with the Velari Eggbutt Cherry Roller Snaffle Bit. Designed to promote clear communication between horse and rider, this bit combines a single-jointed sweet iron mouthpiece, free-moving Cherry Rollers and fixed Eggbutt rings.
This combination is particularly suitable for horses that tend to lean on the bit, become fixed in the contact or struggle to relax through the mouth. The rollers encourage tongue activity, while the sweet iron naturally promotes salivation, helping the horse remain softer in the mouth and more receptive to the rider's contact.
Sweet iron mouthpiece to encourage salivation
The mouthpiece is made from nickel-free sweet iron, a material that naturally oxidises when exposed to moisture. Over time, a light patina develops on the surface. This natural process gives the bit a taste that many horses find appealing and helps stimulate salivation.
Increased activity in the mouth can encourage relaxation of the jaw and help the horse accept the rider's contact more easily.
Cherry Roller for increased mouth activity
The Cherry Roller system consists of several free-moving rollers that rotate around the mouthpiece. Their movement encourages the horse to use its tongue and jaw more actively, which can further stimulate saliva production.
The rollers also make it more difficult for the horse to take a fixed hold of the bit or lean heavily against it. This design is therefore particularly suitable for horses that can become heavy in the hand, tend to lean on the bit or struggle to maintain concentration during work.
Single-jointed mouthpiece for clear, direct action
The single-jointed mouthpiece provides direct communication between the rider's hand and the horse's mouth. When the rider takes up the contact, the central joint forms a V shape, distributing pressure mainly across the bars while providing more space for the centre of the tongue.
This design can be particularly suitable for horses with a relatively high palate and horses that appreciate a clearly defined action.
Thanks to its simple construction, the mouthpiece provides precise and easily understandable contact, making it particularly suitable for horses that prefer a stable and direct connection with the rider's hand.
Eggbutt rings for greater stability
The fixed Eggbutt rings limit excessive lateral movement of the mouthpiece and help the bit remain more stable in the horse's mouth.
This design also reduces the risk of pinching the corners of the lips compared with certain loose-ring bits. It is therefore particularly suitable for horses that prefer a quieter and more stable mouthpiece.
The fixed rings provide consistent and precise rein aids, helping to create a soft, stable and reliable connection between horse and rider.

Care and use
After each use, rinse the bit with lukewarm water and dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Over time, sweet iron naturally develops a light patina through oxidation. This is completely normal and is part of the material's natural properties. It contributes to the characteristic taste of sweet iron and can encourage acceptance of the bit.
Store the bit in a dry place and regularly check its overall condition and signs of wear. Wear should remain even.
When fitting the bit, make sure it is positioned correctly: the Velari star should be on the horse's left side and the Velari logo on the right side.
Advice
Choosing the right bit depends on several factors, including the anatomy of the horse's mouth, the horse's sensitivity and level of training, as well as the rider's hands. The information above should therefore be considered as a general guide. Always choose a bit that is appropriate for the individual needs of your horse.
