The Twisted Pelham Gag Bit with Tongue Plate is a highly technical bit designed for experienced riders and professionals. It combines the leverage action of a Pelham, the lifting effect of a gag bit and the precision of a twisted mouthpiece with a central tongue plate, resulting in a powerful and highly effective bit.

The Pelham encourages poll flexion while applying controlled pressure to the lower jaw through the curb chain. The gag action encourages the horse to shift its weight onto the hindquarters, improving balance and lightening the forehand. Together, these actions provide exceptional control over the horse's balance and movement.

The twisted mouthpiece produces a firmer action than a smooth mouthpiece, while the central tongue plate promotes improved tongue positioning and may reduce defensive behaviours, creating an even more precise response.

Made from German Silver, a copper-rich alloy, the mouthpiece naturally stimulates salivation and encourages relaxation despite its powerful action.

Directions for use: This bit is intended for experienced riders only. It should be used with four reins, one pair attached to the gag cheekpieces and one pair to the Pelham shanks. Pelham roundings may be fitted between the main ring and the shanks to slightly soften the action. The curb chain may also be replaced with a leather, nylon or covered version for a milder effect.
