The Gag-Bit buckles have a special feature: small round holes through which the lifter uprights can pass. These uprights are attached to the headpiece of the bridle, so they’re the ones that provide the lifting action.
These buckles are generally used on horses that tend to ” lean ” on the hand to encourage the horse to put its weight on the hindquarters.
When used with specific bridle uprights, they can be combined with rings for a gentler action.
Gag bit are fixed and thus transmit information from the rider’s hand without interference.
The side pieces are here sold without the mouthpiece.
