Tick-borne diseases, such as piroplasmosis and/or Lyme disease, occur when a horse is bitten by a tick carrying a pathogenic bacterium. For piroplasmosis, the bacteria involved are Babesia caballi or Theileria equi, and for Lyme disease, it is Borrelia. These bacteria spread rapidly through the horse's blood and tissues. Detecting piroplasmosis and Lyme disease is not easy, as their clinical signs are nonspecific. However, symptoms such as anemia, fever, uveitis, joint stiffness, chronic weight loss, and intermittent or sudden lameness should prompt testing for potential contamination.

Conventional treatments involve antibiotics for Lyme disease and the use of piroplasmicide for piroplasmosis. Unfortunately, it is currently nearly impossible to cure a horse infected with Theileria equi with piroplasmicide, and difficult to completely eliminate Borrelia with antibiotics. Borrelia has the ability to encyst itself like worms, hiding from the antibiotics.

To support affected horses, it is crucial to strengthen their resistance to the damage caused by the bacteria: eliminate toxins, boost the immune system, care for the gastrointestinal tract, and replenish the microbiota.

  1. Hepa Clean 1L: eliminates toxins for 10 days, detoxifies the liver, and allows it to process the toxin load released by Borrelia and metabolic waste buildup.

  2. Herbe Piro'Lime 1kg: helps restore vitality, boost energy, and strengthen the immune system.

  3. Permea'Gut 1.8kg: cares for and protects the gastrointestinal tract, reduces acidosis, replenishes the microbiota, and repairs the intestinal barrier. Often, the microbiota has been damaged by repeated antibiotic use, grains, stress, chemical wormers, etc. 80% of a horse's immunity is found in the gut.

This approach focuses on supporting the horse's overall health, boosting its natural defenses while treating the underlying conditions caused by these infections.
