Super Hoof Pellets Plus has been formulated to provide key nutrients, scientifically proven to be important in the production and maintenance of healthy and sound hooves.

It has been recognized since the 1980s that biotin plays a vital role in the growth of new hoof horn, which is produced from special keratinized cells forming tubules from the coronary band at the base of the hoof wall. Researchers noted that additional biotin (20 g for a 500 kg horse and up to 30 g for a 600 kg+ horse) resulted in improved growth of new hoof (but had little effect on already poor quality or damaged horn), with positive outcomes noted at the coronary band level recorded after several weeks of supplementation.

Further research has demonstrated the importance of sulfur in helping to form the double bonds binding the tubules, resulting in a strong and healthy hoof wall. Bio-available sulfur is provided both from sulfur-containing amino acids, including methionine, and also from MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) in the Super Hoof Plus pellets.
